Moral Leadership Tackles The Hardest Problems.
Not long ago a met an immigrant family. The husband had become ill. The mother was left to beg for food for her and her children.
The issue of homelessness both nationally and in our communities is a lose-lose situation. Orange County taxpayers spend $300 million annually for care and services and can find it discouraging or even frustrating to see so many hurting people living on the streets. At the same time, the vast majority of our homeless population suffer from a physical disability, mental illness, or have financial challenges that led them to poverty. The last thing they want is to live on the streets.
My vision is to implement a national best practice to save taxpayers money while simultaneously meeting the needs of our most vulnerable. We can help solve the problem of homelessness. But it will take leadership!
